Diabetes and pregnancy care

Our Penn Medicine Perinatal Diabetes Program provides comprehensive services to help you manage diabetes during pregnancy. If you have Type 1 or Type 2 diabetes, we offer preconception counseling services to promote a healthy pregnancy. We also help if you develop gestational diabetes during pregnancy.

Early Pregnancy Care

The Penn Medicine Pregnancy Early Access Center (PEACE) provides compassionate care and support for individuals navigating family planning decisions, early pregnancy and coping with pregnancy loss. The PEACE team offers specialized services and compassionate, expert support to help manage challenges during pregnancy.

High blood pressure help

Should you develop preeclampsia (high blood pressure during pregnancy), you will participate in our Heart Safe Motherhood program. This remote blood pressure monitoring program helps you manage blood pressure from home after childbirth.

High-risk pregnancy care

Our high-risk pregnancy obstetricians (maternal-fetal medicine specialists) are nationally recognized for their expertise. We guide you through potentially difficult pregnancies and deliveries. We have a Prematurity Prevention Program to lower your risk of early birth.

Nurse midwifery services

Our certified nurse midwives help families have the childbirth experience they desire. These women’s health specialists provide complete care from pregnancy through labor and delivery.

Perinatal and postpartum depression services

Our perinatal and postpartum depression services help if you experience problems during:

  • Fertility treatments
  • Postpartum (after delivery)
  • Pregnancy (perinatal)
  • Pregnancy loss

Pregnancy and heart disease program

Women who have preexisting heart conditions or develop heart problems during pregnancy receive care through our Pregnancy and Heart Disease Program. Your care team includes doctors who specialize in high-risk pregnancies and women’s heart health.

Our SAFE Sleep Program aims to prevent sudden infant death syndrome (SIDS), a form of sudden unexpected infant death (SUID). We want all babies to sleep safely.

Nurse Midwives

Our certified nurse midwives offer complete care, including well-woman exams and birth control. We guide women through pregnancy and natural childbirth.

Perinatal and Postpartum Depression Services
