Every emotion he ever knew was captured in those tattoos. Every emotion except one: the feeling of watching a young patient awaiting a replacement for his failing heart. The waiting was hard on both of them. So they made a deal. Evan, the patient, would draw a tattoo, and one the day of his transplant, Anthony, the nurse, would get the tattoo on his leg.
And so they did, with each acquiring something new and permanent: a friendship.
It keeps them going to this day.
