Thank you to our dedicated community who planned a handful of meaningful events for the fall. The creativity and perseverance it takes to host these events does not go unnoticed, and we are so grateful for all our partners who empower our fight against cancer and support the Abramson Cancer Center's mission by donating their time, funds, and hard work to innovative cancer research, education, and care. Whether virtual, in-person, or a mix of both, your efforts continue to have a positive impact on the lives of many.

Ride Hard Breath Easy

Three-time lung cancer survivor and Penn Champion, Terri Ann DiJulio will bike over 400 miles to raise awareness and funds for the Cheltenham-based lung cancer nonprofit Ride Hard Breathe Easy.

The ride begins on September 3, 2023 at Temple Hospital in Philadelphia and will travel through New Jersey, Baltimore, Northeast Maryland before returning to the Wissahickon Brewery in Philly on September 7, 2023. Eight cyclists, including DiJulio, will cover the 425 miles in five days.

They will also have a celebration ride along the Schuylkill River Trail on Saturday, September 16, 2023, and the distances are 50 miles (starts at 9 a.m.) and 20 miles (starts at 11 a.m.). OR you can skip the ride and join the celebration at Conshohocken Brewery where the ride concludes! All are welcome!

Breakthrough Challenge - Event Webpage

Join us at the 10th Annual Breakthrough Challenge! Founded in 2013, the Breakthrough Challenge strives to raise funds supporting breakthroughs in cancer research at Penn Medicine's Abramson Cancer Center by uniting for a scenic and inspiring bike ride through Eastern PA's beautiful Oley Valley. Thus far, the Breakthrough Challenge has donated more than $2,225,000 to support these breakthroughs – we cannot wait to see what the next 10 years will bring!

This in-person bike ride at the Daniel Boone Homestead offers three routes (50, 25, and 12 miles). Participants can also join virtual events from Monday, September 5, 2023 to Sunday, September 10, 2023 for spinners, runners, walkers, and bikers on the Strava app.

Walk to End Colon Cancer - Event Webpage

At the 2023 Philadelphia Walk to End Colon Cancer, the Colorectal Cancer Alliance community aims to raise awareness, support, and together take steps towards ending colon cancer. Join us as we pound the pavement and rally against a pervasive silence that puts lives at risk. Come find the courage to embrace our emotions and #WalkLoud together. We are UNsilenced.

Participants can also choose to walk your own neighborhood as a virtual participant. Every step takes the community closer to UNsilencing colon cancer.

The support and generosity of attendees benefit the HEADstrong Foundation and Nick's House, which continues the fight every day in support of improving lives affected by cancer.

The Jay Sigel Invitational is celebrating 31 years of advocacy and support for cancer research through the Abramson Family Cancer Research Institute at the University of Pennsylvania. Thanks to generous donors, the Invitational has raised over $4.8 million to benefit breast and prostate cancer research initiatives. We are thrilled to be able to share the information for our upcoming event which will be held on Monday, September 18th at Aronimink Golf Club in Newtown Square, PA. A Love for Life is dedicated to funding pancreatic cancer research at Penn and improving outcomes for those who are facing this challenging disease.

Anyone who as ever joined us at Randy & Nancy's beautiful Newtown Borough property knows that it is the most FUN fundraiser of the year. Enjoy premium German bier, grilled bratwurst, sauerkraut, kartoffelsalat, grüner salat, bretzeln, linzer augen, and more!

There are limited tickets available so don't delay! Lederhosen and Dirndls and checked shirts are encouraged but definitely not required. Your donation will help A Love for Life inch closer to a cure.

Penn Relays 5K - Events Webpage

The Penn Relays is excited to announce the 3rd Annual Penn Relays 5K presented by Toyota on Saturday, November 4, a scenic, competitive run through Penn Park that will start and finish on the track of historic Franklin Field. The Penn Relays and the local Tri-State Toyota Dealers welcome runners of all levels, as the event will feature a 5K and a One-Mile Fun Run.

A post-event party in Franklin Field will feature an awards ceremony as well as food, beverages, music, sponsor and vendor tents, giveaways, and more.

Proceeds will benefit an organization called The Live Like Brent Foundation, part of Carve for Cancer, Inc., a 501(c)(3) non-profit that was founded in 2010. The Live Like Brent Foundation is dedicated to the mission of fighting blood cancers while inspiring others to live an impassioned life. It was conceived by blood cancer warrior Brent P. Evans in 2010 when he was diagnosed with stage IV non-Hodgkin's lymphoma.

Today, Brent's vision remains strong, and an army of dedicated volunteers work tirelessly to increase awareness, assist patients with financial needs, and raise funds for research for partner hospitals from Philadelphia, Lehigh Valley, and Northeast Pennsylvania — including Penn Medicine's Abramson Cancer Center!
