September Events: We're FALLing for our many amazing community events!

Members of the Abramson Cancer Center community used this hot and steamy summer to do some serious planning for a busy fall of meaningful events for all to be part of. Our dedicated community continues to be an inspirational reminder of the creativity, adaptability, and perseverance it takes to truly make a difference.

We are so grateful for all our partners who empower our fight against cancer by donating their time, funds, and hard work to innovative cancer research, education, and care. Together, we will forge a brighter future!

2022 Philadelphia Walk to End Colon Cancer

It's time once again to #WalkLoud. Silence spreads stigma. At the 2022 Philadelphia Walk to End Colon Cancer, the Colorectal Cancer Alliance community aims to raise awareness, support, and together take steps towards ending colon cancer.

Participants can also choose to walk your own neighborhood as a virtual participant. Every step takes the community closer to UNsilencing colon cancer.

Breakthrough Bike Challenge

The Breakthrough Challenge has a new name that reflects participants across sports, including runners, spinners, cyclists, and walkers. While the name has changed the mission remains the same. The Breakthrough Challenge is focused on donating 100 percent of participant-raised funds to support breakthrough cancer research at Penn Medicine's Abramson Cancer Center.

This year The Breakthrough Challenge is excited to once again host an in-person bike ride on Sunday, September 18, 2022 at the Daniel Boone Homestead, offering three routes (50, 25, and 12 miles).

For friends near and far in our larger global community, leading up to the in-person bike ride, participants can join virtual events from Monday, September 5, 2022 – Sunday, September 18, 2022 for spinners, runners, walkers, and bikers on the Strava app.

6th Annual Golf for Rob Outing

Golf for Rob is a New Jersey-based charitable organization focused on raising funds for melanoma research and "driving out" cancer. The annual golf outing is hosted in memory of Robert Stoffel with proceeds benefitting melanoma research at Penn Medicine's Abramson Cancer Center.

Join the 6th Annual Golf for Rob Outing for a day of golf and fun for a good cause. After an afternoon on the green, guests will enjoy dinner, an open bar, prizes and auctions.

Emily Whitehead Foundation 2022 Believe Ball

The quest to #WriteABetterStory continues Saturday, September 17, 2022 at Valley Forge Casino Resort in King of Prussia, PA.

The Emily Whitehead Foundation Believe Ball brings together patients, survivors, families, physicians, researchers, and others who are passionate about finding a cure for childhood cancers.

This year's event celebrates Emily's milestone 10th year being cancer free, and will highlight the documentary "Of Medicine and Miracles" which follows the Whitehead's remarkable journey along with her care team, at Penn's Abramson Cancer Center and Children's Hospital of Philadelphia.

Join Emily and her community for the 3rd Chapter of this event and help her Write a Better Story for these heroes!

12th Annual Lime Light Gala

The Lime Light Gala is an amazing evening of entertainment, awards, and inspiration. The event exists to recognize groundbreaking achievements and honor families in the fight against cancer. Guests will enjoy an uplifting awards presentation and musical performances throughout the evening.

The support and generosity of attendees benefit the HEADstrong Foundation and Nick's House, which continues the fight every day in support of improving lives affected by cancer.

The Jay Sigel Invitational – 30th Annual Golf Outing

The Jay Sigel Invitational is celebrating its 30th Anniversary as the premier charity golf tournament in the Delaware Valley. Join Jay Sigel, host and founder, to raise support for breast and prostate cancer research and patient care.

The 2022 Sigel Invitational returns to its home at the prestigious Aronimink Golf Club in Newtown Square, Pennsylvania, which has hosted the 1962 PGA Championship, 1977 U.S. Amateur Championship, 1997 U.S. Junior Championship, 2003 Senior PGA Championship, the 2010 & 2011 AT&T National.

In addition to the golf event, there will be a Jay Sigel Tennis Invitational happening simultaneously at the Aronimink Tennis Center, including a Round Robin for tennis enthusiasts, as golfers take to the green!

The 3rd annual Celebration of Hope: Kidney Cancer Educational Symposium is designed to address the personal and medical issues of those whose lives have been affected by kidney cancer. Gain knowledge and take action by getting important information from our expert speakers. Receive hope and support by networking with others. The conference is open to those at risk and anyone affected by kidney cancer and family members, caregivers or healthcare professionals.

A Love for Life Oktoberfest

It was The Best of Times, it was The Wurst of Times.

A Love for Life is dedicated to funding pancreatic cancer research at Penn and improving outcomes for those who are facing this challenging disease.

Anyone who as ever joined AL4L at Randy & Nancy's beautiful Newtown Borough property knows that it is the most FUN fundraiser of the year. This dedicated crew is hoping to return to an IN-PERSON Oktoberfest this year for the first time in two years. You won't want to miss this one!

The celebration will take place in the shadow of the Newtown Methodist Church, at the corner of Liberty & Greene Streets in Newtown Borough. Enjoy premium German bier, grilled bratwurst, sauerkraut, kartoffelsalat, grüner salat, bretzeln, linzer augen.

There are limited tickets available so don't delay! Dirndln or Lederhosen or Gingham welcome but surely not required. Your donation will help A Love for Life inch closer to a cure.
