Rendering of a sculpture titled "DNA of Life" created by Maya Lin

When HUP East opens later this year, an intricate art installation with hundreds of glass beads reflecting sunlight will greet patients, families and staff as they enter the facility. Tentatively titled “DNA Tree of Life,” it connects nature and medical science, representing life within the hospital. “My approach to this piece is to create something that is uplifting, that has a sense of wonder and beauty,” Lin said.
