In challenging times, so many of us working in health care — time and again — find ways to go above and beyond. Even if the challenge is just a major snowstorm, we’re continually inspired by these stories: People living in the city who took extra shifts so their colleagues from farther away didn’t have to risk coming in. Support staff who stepped up as well to ensure that clinicians only needed to focus on patient care. Moments of camaraderie that brought colleagues together to find lightness in difficult times.
Now, in the middle of the novel coronavirus pandemic — and its uncertainty — these acts of perseverance are being brought to bear again. How have you and the people around you persisted, stayed connected with colleagues, or made a difference for each other or in the lives of our patients?
We want to hear these stories, large and small, and publish them in HUPdate. Please email updates, stories, kudos or shout-outs to sally.sapega@pennmedicine.upenn.edu.
