Thanks to some persuasive sales techniques during their Nurses Week T-shirt sale and a Penn Medicine CAREs grant, staff in the Center for Human Phenomic Science were able to donate $1000 to the Cathy Miller Cancer Fund. This organization helps support the AstraZeneca Hope Lodge, which provides free lodging for cancer patients who have to travel long distances to receive treatment in Philadelphia.
In addition to the donation, three CHPS nurses — Rita Morrison, BSN; Alicia Morales, BSN, MS; and Michele Mick, RN — volunteered their time to prepare a delectable meal for patients and families staying at Hope Lodge: chicken cacciatore or salmon, soup, salad, and an assortment of fruit and pastries!
