Toearn the premium discount this year, all dependents covered under amedical plan (ages 18-26) must be a non-tobacco user or enrolled in a tobaccocessation program by June 30, 2013. To receive the earned premium discountyou must certify to your tobacco use and then elect the tobacco user or non-usermedical contribution. If you do not make an active election, you will defaultto the same benefits you had last year; however, the earned premium discountwill not be applied and you will pay higher medical contributionsof $25.00 per pay/$650 a year.

18th Annual Dash for Organ & Tissue Donor Awareness
The 18thAnnual Dash for Organ & Tissue Donor Awareness is once again uponus. This year’s event will be held Sunday April 21, at thePhiladelphia Museum of Art.  There’s a new team name this year: TeamPENN MEDICINE. The goal is to recruit runners and walkers from allPenn Medicine entities, in addition to all the wonderful patients thatparticipate every year and to bringawareness to the critical need for more organ and tissue donors. All proceedsbenefit public education programs designed to increase the number of people who register as organ and tissue donors. 

Afterthe 2012 Donor Dash Penn had 167 registered team members and raised $8,804.They We are hoping to raise at least $10,000 this year and recruit at least 180team members. Last year’s team ranked fourth out of 360 teams forenrollment. This year we are striving to be number one! 

Ourultimate mission this year is to have people from all Penn Medicine entitiesjoin our team, hencywhy the team name had been changed to Team PENN MEDICINEthis year.

 TheDash for Organ & Tissue Donor Awareness consists of a 5K (3.1 miles) and a10K (6.2 miles) run and 3K (1.8 miles) walk designed to celebrate the successof transplantation and highlight the critical need for more registered organand tissue donors. Locally, 6,468 men, women and children are currently waitingfor the gift of a life-saving organ transplant. Nationally, more than 112,000people are waiting.
