Caring Way Receives Top Specialty Certification

Congratulations to Caring Way, a part of Home Care and Hospice Services, which received a “specialty certification” in Community-Based Palliative Care. According to The Joint Commission survey, Caring Way exceeded all standards, including those for symptom management and interdisciplinary collaboration. The surveyor specifically highlighted “the palliative care assessment and care planning processes and goals-of-care planning tools, including Our Care Wishes and Conversation Ready, as cutting edge in this field,” said Sandra Jost, RN, PhD, CHO, associate executive director of HCHS.

CCH Receives ACC Chest Pain Center Accreditation

Chester County Hospital received Chest Pain Center Accreditation with Primary PCI and Resuscitation from the American College of Cardiology. CCH is one of only three in the state – and the only hospital in Chester County – to be awarded this certification, which is based on the staff’s ability to assess, diagnose, and treat patients who may be experiencing a heart attack.

“Chester County Hospital has consistently treated acute myocardial infarctions [heart attacks] with the immediate reopening of blocked clotted arteries in the catheterization laboratory with balloon catheters and stents,” said Timothy J. Boyek, MD, director of Interventional Cardiology. “This has resulted in more lives saved and rapid early recovery for patients coming to us for care.”

Hospitals that have earned this Accreditation have proven exceptional competency in treating patients with heart attack symptoms and have primary PCI available 24/7 every day of the year.
