All employees, physicians, allied staff, volunteers, contractors, consultants, and students working at Princeton Health facilities must receive a flu shot or document a medical or religious exemption by Tuesday, November 24, 2020.

Mandatory vaccination helps protect patients, visitors, and co-workers from exposure to seasonal influenza. Some individuals, particularly older adults, pregnant women, very young children, and people with various medical conditions, are susceptible to serious health complications from the flu. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) recommends that individuals age 6 months and older receive a vaccination every flu season.

In October, Princeton Health will host eight events at four separate locations where individuals across the system can get their flu shots. Egg-free vaccines will be available for those with egg allergies.

As in prior years, individuals may also get their shots at doctors’ offices, pharmacies, or other locations and submit a form to Occupational Health documenting their vaccination. The form is available on Employee Self Service (ESS) under MyForms. Submission instructions are included within the form.

What is new or different this year?

Medical and religious exemptions remain available, but they will not carry over automatically from last year. Anyone who needs an exemption can obtain the appropriate form on ESS under MyForms.

The flu prevention events at Princeton Medical Center (PMC) will use three separate locations in an effort to limit crowd sizes and ensure appropriate physical distancing.

—Staff members working on floors 2 through 6 of the Atkinson Pavilion should go to The Bridge, the broad walkway connecting the hospital and the Schreyer Education Center.

—Staff of the Emergency Department, Patient Access Services (PAS), Pre-Admission Testing (PAT), and Cardiac/Pulmonary Rehab should go to PMC’s West Entrance.

—All others may go to the Schreyer Education Center, Conference Rooms A through D.
