The mission of the gastroenterology pathophysiology course at The Perelman School of Medicine is to provide our first year medical students with a solid foundation in the physiology and pathophysiology of the gastrointestinal tract, liver, pancreas, and biliary system. Superb faculty from Gastroenterology, Hepatology, Pathology, and Pediatrics lecture to our students and provide wonderful opportunities for interactive learning. The small group sessions complement material that was presented in lecture and foster self-directed learning as well. At the conclusion of the course, students will be well-versed in fundamental principles of physiology and pathophysiology of the gastrointestinal tract and liver. This solid foundation will serve them well for their clinical rotations at the Perelman School of Medicine and beyond.
