Home infusion

If you have a health condition that requires IV therapy, you may be able to receive treatment without leaving home. Our team is dedicated to your safety and comfort.

Home IV therapy you can rely on

You can get many intravenous (IV) medications without having to travel to an infusion center. Known as home infusion therapy, this service involves a nurse coming to your home and giving your medication through a vein.

At Penn Medicine, we offer home infusion therapy throughout the southeastern Pennsylvania and New Jersey area. Our infusion specialists are dedicated to compassionate care and clinical excellence. We’re accredited by The Joint Commission, a distinction that shows our rigorous quality and safety standards for our patients.

Home IV therapy: What to expect

Once we get your physician’s referral, we contact you to determine a convenient treatment schedule. Our team coordinates insurance coverage and ships your medication and supplies to your home. We explain how to properly store your medication and supplies.

Before your first in-home infusion, a nurse will call you to explain what to expect. On the day of your infusion, your nurse will stay with you during your treatment. Depending on your medication, they may be able to show you how to administer the infusion yourself.

Our team is always available to answer your questions or concerns. We stay in touch with your doctor to provide updates on your treatment and make any needed adjustments to your care plan.
