When symptoms cannot be managed in the home, patients can choose to receive care in our inpatient hospice unit, Penn Hospice at Rittenhouse.
Hospice is a philosophy of care for people with serious and progressive illnesses, such as heart disease, lung disease, cancer and Alzheimer’s disease. Hospice care focuses on symptom relief and quality of life, rather than curing illness. Most people choose to receive hospice care in their homes; however, when a symptom such as pain cannot be managed in the home, patients can choose to receive care in our inpatient hospice unit, Penn Hospice at Rittenhouse.
The first of its kind in Center City Philadelphia, Penn Hospice at Rittenhouse, a division of Wissahickon Hospice, is an inpatient hospice unit designed exclusively for acute hospice care. Our goal is to offer a beautiful and comfortable atmosphere where people at the end of life can spend time with family and friends while our experienced team provides exceptional care.
