  • From Northeastern Areas
    From I-95 South, take the Vine Street/Center City Exit, stay left to 676 West (Vine Street Expressway). Follow 676 West to the I-76 East Exit 1, International Airport. Follow I-76 East (Schuylkill Expressway) to Exit 346A, South Street (left exit), and turn right on South Street. Make a left on 34th Street. The Perelman Center for Advanced Medicine is on the left.
  • From the West & Montgomery County
    Take the Pennsylvania Turnpike to Exit 326, Valley Forge. Take I-76 East (Schuylkill Expressway) approximately 17 miles to Exit 346A, South Street (left exit), and turn right on South Street. Turn left on 34th Street. The Perelman Center for Advanced Medicine is on the left.
  • From the North
    FROM THE NORTH Take I-476 (Northeast Extension) South to Exit 20, Mid-County. Pay the toll and continue south on I-476 to Exit 16A, I-76 East. Follow I-76 East (Schuylkill Expressway) approximately 17 miles to Exit 346A, South Street (left exit), and turn right on South Street. Turn left on 34th Street. The Perelman Center for Advanced Medicine is on the left.
  • From the South / Philadelphia International Airport
    Take I-95 North to Exit 13, PA-291 toward I-76 West/Valley Forge (Schuylkill Expressway). Merge right. Cross Girard Point Bridge and turn left at light on 26th Street. Merge on I-76 West to Exit 346A, South Street (left exit), and turn left on South Street. Turn left on 34th Street. The Perelman Center for Advanced Medicine is on the left.
  • From New Jersey
    Take I-295 to the Walt Whitman Bridge. Follow signs for I-76 West (Schuylkill Expressway) and take Exit 346A, South Street (left). Turn left on South Street and turn left on 34th Street. The Perelman Center for Advanced Medicine is on the left.
    • Alternate Route from New Jersey and points East
      Take the New Jersey Turnpike to Exit 3. Follow the Black Horse Pike (Route 168 North) for one mile to I-295 South. Go one mile to Exit 26 for I-76 West to the Walt Whitman Bridge. Cross the Bridge to take I-76 West (Schuylkill Expressway) to Exit 346A, South Street (left exit), and turn left on South Street. Turn left on 34th Street. The Perelman Center for Advanced Medicine is on the left.

From Philadelphia International Airport (PIA)

  • Driving: All major car rental companies are located at the airport.

  • Airport Train: The train leaves every half hour at 10 minutes and 40 minutes past the hour, and it arrives at University City Station on the HUP campus. The train costs approximately $5 and takes 20 minutes.

  • Taxi: A metered cab from the airport costs approximately $20 and the ride takes approximately 20 minutes.

Parking Garages

Parking garages are available at the Perelman Center for Advanced Medicine and the 3600 Civic Center Boulevard garage. Please note that the Penn Tower Garage has permanently closed.

A free shuttle service will be available to the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania and the Perelman Center for Advanced Medicine on a continuous loop from the new 3600 Civic Center Boulevard garage Level 2 transportation center.

HUP Security also provides walking escorts to any employee, patient or visitor who requests an escort to parking garages, lots and streets surrounding the hospital perimeter. Escorts are always available — timing depends on security officer availability. Please call 215-662-2677 to request a walking escort.

Perelman Center for Advanced Medicine Parking Garage

  • Rates:
    • Up to 3 hours: $7 (Patients/Family), $13 (Non-Patients)
    • 3 to 7 hours: $10 (Patients/Family), $18 (Non-Patients)
    • 7 to 24 hours: $11 (Patients/Family), $20 (Non-Patients)

    For ages 62 and over: $1 discount for up to three hours, $2 discount for three hours or more.

  • Directions from Spruce Street:
    • From Spruce Street, turn onto 34th Street which becomes Civic Center Boulevard.
    • Turn left on East Service Drive and then turn left onto Health Sciences Drive and into the Perelman Center garage.
  • Directions from University Avenue:
    • From University Avenue, turn right onto Civic Center Boulevard and make an immediate right onto Health Sciences Drive.
    • Take Health Sciences Drive past West Service Drive and East Service Drive.
    • Entrance to the Perelman Center parking garage will be on the left.

3600 Civic Center Boulevard Parking Garage

  • Hours: Opens Monday at 5 am and closes Friday at midnight; Closed on weekends
  • Rates: $20 flat rate
  • Directions from Spruce Street:
    • From Spruce Street, turn onto 34th Street which becomes Civic Center Boulevard.
    • Continue on Civic Center Boulevard and make a left onto West Service Drive. The entrance to the garage is on the right.
  • Directions from University Avenue:
    • From University Avenue, turn right onto Civic Center Boulevard and an immediate right onto Health Sciences Drive.
    • Entrance to the garage will be on the left after the curve.
    • See designated entrances to NEW 3600 Civic Center Boulevard parking garage on map.

Shuttle Service

A shuttle service will be available to the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania and the Perelman Center for Advanced Medicine on a continuous loop from the new 3600 Civic Center Boulevard garage Level 2 transportation center.

Long-Term Parking

For patients requiring an extended hospitalization, parking passes are available to family members at a discounted rate:

  • 15 Day Pass: Allows unlimited in/out parking in the Perelman Center garage, or the 3600 Civic Center Boulevard garage for 15 consecutive days. (Cost: $80)
  • 7 Day Pass: Allows unlimited in/out parking in the Perelman Center garage, or the 3600 Civic Center Boulevard garage for seven consecutive days. (Cost: $45)
  • There is no reimbursement for days not used or lost/stolen cards.
  • Long-term parking passes can be purchased at the Cashier's Booth located on the ground floor of the Perelman Center.

    Northeast corridor Amtrak trains stop at 30th Street Station. See SEPTA Regional Rail Lines or SEPTA City Transit for information on travelling to the hospital from 30th Street Station. Taxi service also is available at 30th Street Station.

    Regional Rail Lines: The Airport, Marcus Hook-Wilmington, Media-Elwyn and most Glenside-Jenkintown, Warminster and West Trenton trains provide direct service to the University City Station on the Medical Center campus. From other Regional Rail lines, transfer free to the Airport, Marcus Hook-Wilmington, Media-Elwyn and most Glenside-Jenkintown, Warminster and West Trenton trains at 30th Street or Jefferson Station (formerly Market East station). Your train ticket is your transfer.

    SEPTA City Trains and Trolleys: The SEPTA Market/Frankford Blue Line (the elevated train/subway) stops at 34th and Market Sts. A 10-minute walk south on 34th Street or a 5-minute ride on the LUCY shuttle takes you to the Hospital.

    All SEPTA Subway/Surface Green Line trolleys except the Number 10 stop at 37th and Spruce streets, one block from the Rhoads entrance to the Hospital on 36th Street south of Spruce Street. If you take the Number 10 trolley, travel to 36th and Sansom streets. Walk four blocks south on 36th Street to the Rhoads entrance of the Hospital.

  • Loop Through University City (LUCY)

    District's LUCY shuttle runs to Penn Tower Hotel, across 34th Street from the main entrance to Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania. The Gold Loop takes passengers from 30th Street Station and 34th and Market streets to Penn Tower, then goes to Penn Presbyterian Medical Center.

    The Gold Loop shuttle runs every 10 minutes during peak times (7 am to 9 am, 4 pm to 6 pm) and every 30 minutes from 9 am to 4 pm. The ride to Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania takes 10 minutes from 30th Street Station and 5 minutes from 34th and Market streets.

    LUCY is $2 or a SEPTA token for the public and is free with a SEPTA pass or ID from the University of Pennsylvania, University of Pennsylvania Health System, Drexel University, Children's Hospital of Philadelphia and the VA Medical Center.

  • New Jersey PATCO Trains

    Take the PATCO line to 8th and Market streets. Follow the underground concourse to the SEPTA Jefferson Station (formerly Market East station). From there, the R1 Airport, R2 Marcus Hook-Wilmington, and R3 Media-Elwyn Regional Rail lines provide direct service to the University City Station on the Medical Center campus. Or you may transfer from PATCO at 8th and Market streets to the SEPTA Market/Frankford Blue Line (the elevated train/subway). Take the westbound train to 34th and Market streets. A 10-minute walk south on 34th Street takes you to the Hospital.

    From the Greyhound Bus Station at 10th and Filbert streets, walk to the Jefferson Station (formerly Market East station) at 11th and Market streets. From there, take the R1 Airport, R2 Marcus Hook-Wilmington, or R3 Media-Elwyn Regional Rail line to the University City Station on the Medical Center Campus. A taxi ride from the Greyhound Bus station costs about $12.
