The newest addition to the Penn facilities is the HUP Pavilion, which houses 504 private patient rooms, 47 operating rooms, 61 emergency department exam rooms, and 690 below ground parking space.
The Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania (HUP) is a specialty-oriented tertiary care referral center with annual admissions exceeding 35,000. HUP is committed to the mission of high quality patient care, education and research. Founded in 1874 as the first bedside teaching hospital in the United States, it is the primary teaching hospital for the physically adjacent Perelman School of Medicine. Owned by the University of Pennsylvania, HUP has over 800 beds and is comprised of 16 contiguous buildings which include new operating room suites. Medical care is provided by over 1,100 housestaff in and 1,900 members of the Perelman School of Medicine faculty.
The Ruth and Raymond Perelman Center for Advanced Medicine (PCAM) is a state-of-the-art, 500,000 square foot Perelman Center for Advanced Medicine outpatient facility located on the corner of 34th Street and Civic Center Boulevard, adjacent to the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania. The Perelman Center – a $302 million facility and the largest capital project undertaken in the history of the University of Pennsylvania Health System – was designed to create an ideal environment for patient-focused care and collaboration among health professionals. The Perelman Center is home to Penn Medicine's Abramson Cancer Center, radiation oncology, cardiovascular medicine and an outpatient surgical pavilion.

Penn Presbyterian Medical Center (PPMC) was founded in 1871 by the Alliance of Philadelphia Presbyteries. Originally called Presbyterian Hospital of Penn Presbyterian Medical Center Philadelphia, it began as a small 45-bed facility on 2-1/2 acres. Over the years, Penn Presbyterian has grown to a modern 16-acre campus with more than 300 beds. In 1995, Penn Presbyterian Medical Center became a part of the University of Pennsylvania Health System. As a teaching hospital, Penn Presbyterian is able to offer patients a full array of state-of-the art services, from primary and family care to the most complex medical and surgical treatment provided by a world-renowned team of medical professionals.
Pennsylvania Hospital (PAH), the nation’s first hospital, is a 515-bed acute care facility that provides a full range Pennsylvania of diagnostic and therapeutic medical services and functions as a major teaching and clinical research institution. The hospital has over 29,000 inpatient admissions and 115,000 outpatient visits each year, including over 5,200 births. Pennsylvania Hospital is part of the University of Pennsylvania Health System and is located at 8th and Spruce Streets in the historic Society Hill district of Philadelphia.
The Philadelphia VA Medical Center (VAMC) provides health care to Veterans living in America’s fifth-largest metropolitan area, including the city of Philadelphia and six surrounding counties in Southeastern Pennsylvania and Southern New Jersey. The facility is staffed by more than 2,000 employees and supports 145 acute care beds and a 135-bed nursing home.
