Hospice provides an alternative to hospitalization and an opportunity to make a choice as to where patients will receive care for the physical, emotional and spiritual aspects associated with terminal illness. Hospice services are provided by experienced health care professionals and trained volunteers under the leadership of the hospice medical director.

Wissahickon Hospice, part of Penn Medicine, was established first in1982. Wissahickon Hospice provides compassionate care for patients with life-limiting conditions. The first Medicare-certified hospice in Pennsylvania, Wissahickon is one of the oldest and largest hospice programs in the region.
