Behavioral therapy for kids at Penn Medicine
At Princeton House, you’ll find a range of services that give your child the best chance for a healthier future.
We offer partial hospitalization (full day) and intensive outpatient (half day) programs for children and adolescents. Based on a comprehensive evaluation by a board-certified psychiatrist or advanced practice psychiatric nurse, we select the best treatment path for each child.
We draw on the latest therapies to help children thrive. Dialectical behavior therapy (DBT) focuses on improving control over emotions, teaching healthier habits, and reducing impulsive behaviors such as self-harm. We tailor all our therapies to each child’s individual needs and challenges.
Certified teachers provide two hours of grade-appropriate instruction daily for children in our full-day program. With parental permission, we can also work directly with schools on transition plans and recommend special accommodations as needed.
We guide parents and children as they navigate obstacles and rebuild relationships, providing a safe, respectful space for healing. Our therapists also give parents strategies for helping their child achieve personal growth and a more positive life at home and in school.
