Two options to check in for your appointment
- Mobile arrival: Complete check-in steps online before your appointment. Then, click “I'm Here” in the myPennMedicine app when you arrive at your doctor’s office, and we will send details on what to do next. We outline the mobile arrival steps in greater detail below.
- Traditional check-in: Complete check-in steps online before your visit and stop by the registration desk to check in for your appointment when you arrive.

The new mobile arrival process enhances your privacy, decreases time spent in the waiting room and allows us to better care for you.
With mobile arrival, you can complete the check-in steps online before arriving at your doctor's office, often saving a trip to the front desk or cutting down the amount of time you spend there.
Confirming your appointment and personal information ahead of time also helps your provider. They can better prepare for your appointment and place an even greater focus on your care.
Mobile arrival steps
The mobile arrival process is easy to use and is available for most visits. Here’s what to expect:
- You will receive an invitation to complete the check-in process online before your appointment. Log in to your MyChart account, go to “Upcoming Visits” and choose “Get Ready.”
- On the day of your appointment, you will receive a notification on your mobile device. It will contain a prompt that asks you to confirm that you have arrived at your doctor’s office.
- Click the “I'm here” button to let us know you are at the practice, and we will send details on what to do next.
If you don’t receive check-in reminders or need help checking in for your appointment, our front-desk staff is always available.
What is mobile arrival?
Mobile arrival is part of a process that will enhance and streamline check-in tasks that you’ve always had to complete before appointments, including updating and confirming your contact information, insurance, medications, allergies, travel history and other health issues.

With mobile arrival, you can often avoid waiting in line at the front desk and filling out forms when you arrive at your appointment. Instead, you can complete the check-in process online from the comfort of home.
Securely pay your bill
You can securely pay your bill online when you complete the check-in process. This means that you can skip the payment step when you arrive.

Update your contact and insurance information
It is easier than ever to update and confirm your information. Keeping your contact details and insurance information up-to-date ensures our records are accurate.

Location tracking for appointment check-ins
MyChart can use geolocation on Apple and Android devices to detect when you arrive for an appointment.
You must have the myPennMedicine app open, location sharing turned on,and allow notifications for mobile arrival for MyChart to use the geolocation feature.

Turn on notifications. View a step-by-step guide to turn notifications on or off on your iPhone.
- Make sure Allow Notifications for your myPennMedicine app is set to on, and that you are allowing alerts on your lock screen, notification center, and banners.
- Sounds and badges also must be set to on.
Allow myPennMedicine to access your location.
- In your iPhone settings, navigate to Privacy.
- Tap Location Services.
- Tap the circle to turn on Location Services.
- Tap myPennMedicine.
- Tap Always in Allow Location Access. If not set to always, you must log in to the myPennMedicine app when you arrive at the practice to get notifications.
Turn on notifications. View a step-by-step guide to turn notifications on or off on your Android device.
- Make sure your alerts are turned on to show as pop-up, vibrate, and App icon badges.
- After you turn on notifications, click the back arrow twice to return to the myPennMedicine app.
Allow myPennMedicine to access your location.
- In your Android device Settings, navigate to Permissions.
- In App Info tap Permissions.
- Tap Location and tap Allow all the time. If it is not set to allow all the time, you must log in to the myPennMedicine app when you arrive at the practice to get notifications.
All devices: Turn on mobile arrival alerts in MyChart
- Log in to MyChart by myPennMedicine
- Choose Communications Preferences.
- Choose Appointments & Questionnaires and click Advanced Settings to open a dropdown menu.
- Scroll down to Mobile Arrival.
- To get notifications, make sure the toggle is green and be sure to save your settings.
