April16, has been officially designated as “National Healthcare Decisions Day.” The "National Healthcare Decisions Day" (NHDD) Initiative is a collaborative effortof national, state and community organizations committed to ensuring that alladults with decision-making capacity in the United States have the informationand opportunity to communicate and document their health care decisions. Theobjectives of NHDD are to provide much-needed information to the public, reducethe number of tragedies that occur when a person’s wishes are unknown, andimprove the ability of health care facilities and providers to offer informedand thoughtful guidance about advance health care planning to their patients.

The Ethics Committee of PennsylvaniaHospital,along with over 1,000 other national, state and community organizations,is proud to participate in NHDD which will be celebrated at PAH on Tuesday, April 16. Information will be available in the Elm Garden Cafeteria throughout the day.
