Jean Bennett, MD, PhD, and Albert Maguire, MD, of Ophthalmology, were awarded the Sanford and Sue Greenberg Prize to End Blindness for their work investigating how gene therapy can treat hereditary diseases of the retina. "We have been happily surprised to see that individuals who are in their fourth or fifth decade of life can regain vision after having been blind for decades," Bennett said in an interview with National Geographic.

Peg Rummel, RN, MHA, has been named this year's recipient of the Oncology Navigation Excellence (ONE) Award from the Academy of Oncology Nurse & Patient Navigators. The award recognizes an oncology navigator for his or her outstanding contributions to oncology navigation, patient care, or education.
