Using tarps for a burrito-like “hypowrap” to insulate a hypothermic patient and transport him safely is one of the many emergency skills students at the Perelman School of Medicine learn during a two-week wilderness and disaster medicine training course.

The goal of the course is to arm future doctors with many critical decision-making skills and adaptability to better help disaster victims – or any patients – even when resources are scarce.
