PresbyBulletin's Our Shining Stars GraphicEvery month, PPMC staff members who embody Service, Teamwork, Achievement, and Respect are named Presby STARs. In addition to earning recognition from their colleagues, these outstanding all-stars also receive a certificate and a $100 award.

Mimoza (Moza) Ahmataj, a patient care associate on the neuro intensive care unit, was recognized by Susan Gullo, MSN, RN, for providing “expert care to our neuro patients with proficiency, compassion, professionalism and integrity every single shift that she works.” Gullo praised Ahmataj’s dedication, noting, “She arrives on the unit 15 to 20 minutes before shift start to receive the CNA report and then promptly communicates with each nurse to ensure accuracy of the report.”

Attention to detail is a hallmark of PPMC employees like Teresa Daigneau, RN, who lifted a patient’s spirits by fulfilling a special request. Daigneau’s patient wanted sherbet for a snack and after finding none in the hospital, Daigneau had her husband buy some and drop it off. “Small things like buying some sherbet changed how that patient felt and gave the patient a sense of satisfaction that her nurse was listening to her and making sure her needs were met,” said Lisa M. Triantos, MSN, RN, CEN, NE-BC, clinical director for Emergency, Medical, and Behavioral Health Nursing.

Hyperbaric technician Reginald (Reggie) Boigris was commended as a team player and “a true asset to the Wound Care Center and the health system as a whole” by Kelly Troiano, BSN, MS. Boigris devoted a weekend off to supervising installation of a new hyperbaric manifold system, working alongside the engineers and facilities department. “He has been instrumental in maintaining the hyperbaric chambers and ensuring quality patient care,” Troiano said, adding, “The patients adore his gentle demeanor. He works diligently to keep the patient calm and comfortable during their treatment course.”

Patients on CUPP Pavilion 4 South also “adore and rave about” certified nursing assistant Mvunana (Nana) Vemba and the excellent care she provides. According to Jillian Fraser, BSN, RN-BC, patients say Vemba not only takes care of their physical needs, but also takes time to listen to them and ask about their day. “Nana also has keen assessment skills and brings any concerns she has to the nurse immediately. I think I speak for all the nursing staff on 4 South when I say Nana is an asset to our unit.”

Thank you to all of our STARs for your unwavering commitment and compassion. You are an inspiration to your patients, colleagues, and community!
