Alyson Cole, Chief Patient Experience Officer and Associate Executive Director
Fall is the season of gathering and gratitude. During the month of October, Penn Medicine takes time to honor our staff and faculty, to reflect on the important role each member of our team plays in changing the lives of our patients, and to thank them for the dedication they show each and every day.
The “Penn Medicine Experience” is our unique and exceptional commitment to making our patients, their families, and our colleagues feel respected and cared for. From October 16th – 20th, our annual Penn Medicine Experience (PMX) Week will launch across the health system and give us a focused time to celebrate our entire healthcare community, honor the advances and accomplishments of our team, and reenergize efforts.
I have the privilege of receiving notes and calls from patients and families who take the time to share stories and compliments about their time with us. Reading and hearing about the compassion shown by our team is truly humbling. No matter your role at PPMC, we’re all caregivers who make an impression on every patient’s experience on our campus. Even on the busiest of days, you have found ways to connect with patients and their loved ones, fully embracing the human experience in a unique, personal, and in sometimes unexpected way. For me, that is how the Penn Medicine Experience is fully realized at Presby.
I hope that you will take part in the PMX Week celebration. Between workshops, pet and music therapy sessions, a mobile fun cart, and more, the activities planned for the week have been designed to reward you for the excellent work you have done all year long. Thank you for the care you show our patients and each other every day.
