Penn Medicine Princeton Health will offer a head start on Mom’s favorite holiday with a Mother’s Day Tea on Wednesday, May 8 during the weekly Bright Beginnings program.
The Mother’s Day Tea is a yearly tradition at Bright Beginnings, a part-social, part-educational gathering held every Wednesday at Princeton Fitness & Wellness in Montgomery, N.J.
Attendees will enjoy tea, refreshments and a presentation by Alyssa Luning, a registered dietitian nutritionist with Princeton Health, on the health benefits of tea.
As with all Bright Beginnings sessions, the Mother’s Day celebration is open not only to mommies but also daddies, grandparents, nannies, and other caregivers, along with their infants, said Bernadette Flynn-Kelton, RN, a health educator and board certified lactation consultant with Princeton Health’s Community Wellness Department.
“This will be our fifth year for the Mother’s Day Tea,” said Flynn-Kelton, who coordinates the group. “It is similar to what we do every week. There is an educational component, but the social aspect is just as important at Bright Beginnings. We are trying to give caregivers a relaxed, baby-friendly atmosphere where they can be with other adults for an hour.”
Recent guest speakers have included Becky Keller, a physical therapist with Princeton Rehabilitation who specializes in pelvic wellness, and Michael B. Resnick, MD, FACOG, a board certified OB/GYN on the Princeton Health medical staff. Flynn-Kelton was the instructor for an April session that offered tips on traveling with your baby.
Attendance is free, and registration is not required for Bright Beginnings. To learn more about the Mother’s Day Tea, visit http://tinyurl.com/y39chke6.
