Located in Lancaster General Hospital, the Level I Trauma Center — the only one in Lancaster County — offers expert emergency care for traumatic injuries, general surgery, follow-up care, and injury prevention education.
Our board-certified physicians, trained at top fellowship programs, lead a dedicated team of PAs, CRNPs, nurses, and support staff, all equipped with the skill and compassion to guide patients and families through life’s most challenging moments.
What we offer
As a Level 1 Trauma Center we are continuously prepared to treat patients with the most serious life-threatening and disabling injuries. We have one of the busiest trauma centers in the region, treating more than 3,500 trauma patients annually.

Transfer a patient
Call us 24/7 at 877-937-7366 to discuss the transfer of your patient with the LGH Level 1 Trauma Center attending physician. Once the patient is accepted, we will work with you to arrange expedited transport to Lancaster General Hospital’s Level 1 Trauma Center.

Complete the following steps if you choose to transfer yourself or a loved one to Lancaster General Hospital's Level 1 Trauma Center from another hospital.
- Discuss your choice to transfer yourself or your loved one with the care team at your current hospital.
- The doctor at your current place of care must facilitate the transfer by calling 877-937-7366.
- Once we accept your transfer, we will help arrange transport to Lancaster General Health as quickly as possible.
Surgical partners
Providing high-level trauma care requires a team approach involving departments throughout the hospital and beyond. Trauma surgeons are frequently assisted by physicians who have a special background in trauma care. This list does not include all providers available to care for your loved one.
- Orthopedic surgeons from the Orthopedic Associates of Lancaster, who have advanced training and expertise specifically in trauma care
- Neurosurgeons from Lancaster NeuroScience and Spine Associates, who have advanced training and expertise in neurosurgery
- Geriatricians for injured patients 65 years of age and older
- Pediatric hospitalists occasionally consult. However, for pediatric patients, only specific types of injuries are managed at Lancaster General Hospital.

Our Trauma Team is actively involved in outreach efforts that educate the community on a wide range of safety and injury prevention issues including:
- Bicycle safety
- Child injury prevention
- Concussion and brain injury prevention
- Falls prevention in the geriatric population
- Farm safety
- Water safety
