COVID-19 Patient Visitor Guidelines
To protect all of our patients and staff, Penn Medicine is limiting the number of visitors to Pennsylvania Hospital.

All visitors must enter through the main entrance of the hospital on 8th and Spruce Streets and will be required to wear a visitor's badge, which can be picked up at the Welcome Desk located at the main entrance. A photo ID is required to receive a badge. Visitor passes should be visible at all times and returned to the Welcome Desk upon leaving the hospital.
Minimum Age Requirement: Please be aware that all children must be accompanied by an adult and will be asked to wait with a parent or guardian in the Preston Lobby if they do not meet the minimum age requirements.
Welcome Desk
For help finding your way around Pennsylvania Hospital, stop at any of our Welcome Desk in the main lobby of the Preston Building and a Welcome Ambassador will be happy to assist you.
Family Lounges / Waiting Areas
All patient care areas located in the hospital have their own family lounge waiting areas. Designated family lounge areas for family members and friends who are waiting for patients in surgery are located on:
- 1st Floor, Preston in the Liberty Lounge
- 1st Floor Spruce Building
Sending Mail to Patients
Mail is usually sorted and distributed by 11:45 am. When sending mail to a patient at Pennsylvania Hospital, please include the following information:

Volunteer Host-Homes
Having family members present is of direct benefit to patients and family members. Patients need the support of family members to navigate complex health care systems and decisions. Family members need a place to go to restore their energy and thus be able to help their hospitalized loved one each day. Lodging at nearby volunteers host-homes is available for $20 a night.
