Pioneers in head and neck surgery

Groundbreaking research and leading-edge treatments are born at Penn Medicine. We’re known internationally for our accomplishments and innovation in head and neck surgery. We performed the world’s first transoral robotic surgery (TORS), a minimally invasive robot-assisted procedure for head and neck cancer.

Our researchers also invented an advanced technology called TumorGlow® that makes tumors light up for unprecedented accuracy in cancer surgery. In addition, we’re leading the way in plastic and reconstructive surgery of the head, neck, and face. Our surgeons perform complex procedures to improve function and appearance after cancer treatment or trauma.

The region’s top ENT specialists

One of the many reasons patients and doctors throughout the region choose Penn Medicine for ear, nose, and throat care is our ability to bring together world-renowned experts from multiple disciplines. Otorhinolaryngologists, head and neck surgeons, neurotologists, audiologists, rhinologists, oncologists, and many other physicians collaborate to review each patient’s case and design a treatment plan around their needs. No matter how uncommon or complex the condition, we have the right specialists to provide timely, coordinated care.
