Department-specific guidelines for visitors and support people
When our patients and their families actively participate in their healthcare it improves safety, outcomes, and patient satisfaction. Visitors 15 and older are welcome in many areas of Doylestown Hospital.
Please review the visitor policies and hours information for the area of the hospital you would like to visit.
Visitation in Acute Care, Intensive Care, IVU, and CIVU is allowed 24/7 unless the patient is in a semi-private room.
Up to two visitors are permitted at a time.
Between 8 p.m. and 7 a.m., visitors must enter through the emergency department and check in with security. The security team provide a visitors badge that must be worn at all times.
Prenatal testing
One support person is allowed to accompany the patient for pre-natal testing. Children are not allowed.
Labor and delivery
Up to three support people are allowed and they will be asked to wear orange identification (ID) bands.
If expectant parents desire a doula for labor and birth, they are welcome.
Postpartum
One support person with the ID band is allowed to visit anytime and may stay overnight with the patient. Between noon and 8 p.m., two visitors are allowed at a time.
No children younger than 15 may visit unless they are siblings of the newborn. Siblings are permitted at any age.
Intensive Care Nursery
Parents or support people with two matching infant ID bands may visit at any time.
No additional visitors are allowed.

One visitor is allowed to visit 24/7.
Noncompliant visitors may be escorted from the hospital by Security.
Guidelines are subject to change at the discretion of the Unit Manager and/or Infection Prevention Department.
Patients may have a support person present during their outpatient visit. Clinically necessary or reasonable restrictions may be required in surgical, procedural, and operative areas.
Only immediate family members are permitted into the room. Family members should spread visiting time out so that no more than four are in the room at one time. Applies to end-of-life patients only.
