Volunteer at Penn Presbyterian Medical Center
Penn Presbyterian Medical Center offers tailored volunteer programs for adults and college students interested in a medical career. See the information below for details.
Penn Presbyterian Medical Center offers adults 18 and up volunteer opportunities in clinical and non-clinical areas, including nursing units, emergency department, hospital offices, guest services, information desks, and other hospitality locations.
Possible volunteer tasks include:
- Escorting patients through campus to admissions, discharge or other buildings as requested.
- Providing companionship through our one-on-one Bed Buddies program.
- Assisting with meal ordering, tray removal, and lounge tidiness.
- Rotating through the hospital with our Heart Cart, which is stocked with art supplies, magazines, puzzles, newspapers and games.
- Assembling patient guides, menus, and other patient amenities such as quiet time packs.
- Helping with pharmacy pick up and drop off.
- Greeting and providing directions to visitors.
Volunteers commit to 100 hours of volunteer service within a six to twelve-month period
College students interested in pursuing a career in medicine can volunteer at Penn Presbyterian in nursing, physical therapy, occupational therapy, pharmacy or hospital administration, and more.
College volunteers commit to 100 hours of volunteer service within a six to twelve-month period.
The director of volunteer services will write a letter of recommendation for continuing education or employment for the student volunteer after they complete the minimum service requirements.
