About me

  • Professor of Orthopaedic Surgery at the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania

Dr. Tintle specializes in hand, wrist, and elbow surgery, caring for the full spectrum of upper extremity conditions from common problems to the most complex reconstructive challenges. His clinical focus includes microsurgical reconstruction, peripheral nerve injury and compression neuropathy, fractures and post-traumatic conditions, arthritis — including advanced implant-based options for thumb arthritis — tendon disorders, amputation-related care, and osseointegration. He completed his hand and microsurgery fellowship at the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania and returns to Penn following a 24-year career in the U.S. Navy, where he served as Chief of Hand Surgery at Walter Reed National Military Medical Center and cared for the nation's most severely injured service members. His research focuses on the early identification of bone fragility using routine CT imaging and blood biomarkers, with the goal of preventing fractures before they occur.
