I am a medical oncologist and palliative care specialist with an interest in symptom management, communication, and improving access to high quality affordable cancer care. I believe in the value of keeping patients close to their homes, families, and support networks. Cancer is a disease of older adults, and I am proud to lead a growing program in geriatric oncology, focused on personalizing care for older adults with cancer.
I previously trained at Johns Hopkins in medical oncology and Memorial Sloan Kettering for palliative medicine. Both experiences enriched my understanding of why supporting patients with cancer, and their caregivers, is linked to their overall survival. Unfortunately, this is often overlooked in the oncology community. The data out there suggests that health, and healthcare, are about the experience, as much as the outcome. As a faculty member of Penn Medicine, with a physical presence in New Jersey, I am able to offer patients access to state of the art care in their own neighborhood.
