Rahul S. Tonk, MD, MBA is a cornea, cataract, and refractive surgeon at Princeton Eye Group. Previously, Dr. Tonk served as Associate Professor, Associate Medical Director, and Fellowship Co-Director at the Bascom Palmer Eye Institute in Miami, FL.
Dr. Tonk’s surgical practice focuses on refractive surgery (LASIK, PRK, ICL, advanced IOLs), cataract surgery (routine to highly complex cases), corneal surgery (including corneal transplantation such as DMEK/DSAEK/PKP/DALK), and anterior segment reconstruction (including IOL exchange, IOL re-fixation, iris repair).
He is a recognized leader in ophthalmic education, regularly selected to direct instructional courses on advanced surgical techniques at the American Academy of Ophthalmology (AAO) and American Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgery (ASCRS) annual meetings. He actively shapes clinical standards through his service on the ASCRS Refractive Surgery Clinical Committee and the Cornea Society.
Dr. Tonk is an active clinical researcher and investigator for NIH and National Eye Institute sponsored trials. His focus areas include corneal transplantation/optimizing outcomes in endothelial keratoplasty (DMEK/DSAEK); advanced management of keratoconus including CAIRS, CTAK, and cross-linking; and IOL power calculations (biometry for irregular corneas and complex eyes).
Dr. Tonk is fluent in English, Spanish, and Hindi.
