Description of Research Expertise
I am a Research Associate Professor and a Medical Physicist certified by American Board of Medical Physics. I conduct an independent study course (MPHY 6130) entitled “MRI Fundamentals" for graduate students. My research interests include development and application of advanced magnetic resonance imaging and spectroscopy methods in studying brain tumors, head and neck cancers and neurodegenerative diseases. With a strong interest in translational research, I have been involved in implementing several advanced MR imaging techniques on clinical magnets. Some of these techniques include high resolution 3D-echoplanar spectroscopic imaging on 3T, single voxel 2D-correlation spectroscopy and quantitative susceptibility mapping on human 7T magnet, and several image processing algorithms for processing diffusion and perfusion MR imaging data.
I have authored 107 peer-reviewed original research/review articles and 8 book chapters. I am a recipient of Fulbright Scholarship, and research grant awards from NIH, ISMRM, Penn Center for Precision Medicine, McCabe foundation, Institute for Translational Medicine and Therapeutics and Research foundation of University of Pennsylvania. I was presented with Outstanding Researcher Award in Neuroradiology from Venus International Foundation and Distinguished Investigator Award from Academy of Radiology and Biomedical Research Imaging.
