Description of Clinical Expertise

Dr. Sulewski is the Chief of Ophthalmology at the Veterans Affairs Medical Center of Philadelphia, Co-Director of the Cornea Service and Director of Refractive Surgery at the University of Pennsylvania. His areas of interest and expertise include cataract surgery, surgical correction of astigmatism, intraocular lens complications, corneal transplantation, refractive surgery (LASIK, PRK, LASEK, phakic intraocular lenses for high myopia, and conductive keratoplasty for presbyopia), and all medical and surgical diseases of the cornea and anterior segment of the eye.

Dr. Sulewski has been performing incisional refractive surgery at Penn for more than 15 years. He has extensive clinical experience in the use of the excimer laser to perform customized wavefront-guided LASIK for the correct of nearsightedness, farsightedness and astigmatism.

Dr. Sulewski has been listed in Philadelphia Magazine's “Top Docs” for his expertise as a corneal specialist and a refractive surgeon and has been listed in Best Doctors in America. He has also been a multi-year recipient of the resident surgical teaching award which is presented to the faculty member who has displayed excellence in teaching eye surgery to the UPENN residents. He has also been recognized nationally for his work in providing the highest quality of eye care to our country’s war heroes.
