Description of Research Expertise
I am a practicing cardiac anesthesiologist and Assistant Professor of Anesthesiology in the Department of Anesthesiology and Critical Care at the University of Pennsylvania. My research expertise includes comparative effectiveness studies in echocardiography using large datasets and developing predictive algorithms using nonlinear, machine learning techniques. My work in echocardiography is currently supported by the Foundation for Anesthesia Education and Research (FAER) on a Mentored Research Training Grant (MRTG). My work on the clinical utility and variability of intraoperative transesophageal echocardiography (TEE) in cardiac surgery has resulted in publications in leading clinical journals including: Journal of the American Society of Echocardiography (JASE) and JAMA Network Open. I have an ongoing interest in using data to study perioperative research questions in the field of Anesthesiology and Critical Care.
