Dr. Burns joined the faculty of the division in 2007 as an Assistant Professor of Medicine. She completed her B.A. in Biological Sciences at Rutgers College and received her medical doctorate from UMDNJ Robert Wood Johnson Medical School. She completed her residency training at Brown University in Providence, RI and trained as a fellow in Endocrinology, Diabetes and Metabolism here at University of Pennsylvania.Her clinical interests include Diabetes (type 1 and type 2), and General Endocrinology including thyroid disease and osteoporosis. Dr. Burns currently serves as the medical director of the Diabetes in pregnancy program. Her clinical practices are located at the Penn Rodebaugh Diabetes Center, Penn Endocrinology at HUP (located in the Perelman Center for Advanced Medicine) and Pennsylvania Hospital.
