she's the best.

the provider did not listen to me, and i do not want to continue working with her. l'm dealing with high blood pressure for the first time, and never had it before getting pregnant. i'm very self-aware of my body, do yoga daily, and used to do intermittent fasting before conceiving. when i tried to discuss possible reasons for this (my diet change, stress at work) and ask her advice/opinion on what lifestyle changes i could possibly make to change these results, i was kindly dismissed she insisted that i must have had it before being pregnant. she then started to prescribe high bp meds to me, asking if i was prone to headaches, to which i said 'no, but i'm prone to nausea too when it comes to new medications.' she said this will be 'sort of trial and error' and it just made me feel like a lab experiment, rather than an expecting mother with concerns. i don't want trial and error, i want something that's known to work, especially for black women. in general, i want to take the most natural and holistic approach i can for any aspect of this pregnancy. i will try the meds cause the doctor told me to. but i will need a doctor going forward that sees me as a person, and that is willing to hear and discuss things more openly with their parents.

dr katsnelson is kind, professional, and thorough. i waited in the room over an hour to see her and i'm sure she was having a very busy day, but she did not rush out appointment and made me feel cared for and listened to. thank you!
