I am an experienced Physician Associate (PA) with more than
ten years of experience practicing medicine, a history of organizational
leadership, ongoing clinical research pursuits, and a lifelong commitment to
serving and supporting patients from every walk of life. As an infectious
diseases (ID) provider, I care for general ID patients both in and outside of
the hospital, providing medical care for a wide range of bacterial, viral,
fungal, and parasitic infections.
My clinical interests include infections affecting people
who inject drugs and individuals with substance use disorders, HIV and viral
hepatitis, antimicrobial resistance and stewardship, and LGBTQIA+ affirming
medical care. I am particularly interested in the intersection of ID and
addiction medicine. As a harm reductionist, I strive to meet patients where
they are along their healthcare journey and collaborate with them to provide
thoughtful, patient-centered care.
I am also passionate about medical education and
professional development. I teach at several PA programs in the Philadelphia
area and regularly work with PA students, medical students, residents, ID
fellows, and other healthcare professionals. My teaching includes
pathophysiology, differential diagnosis, clinical medicine, clinical skills,
and pharmacology lectures across a wide range of infectious diseases, including
HIV, fungal and parasitic infections, as well as tick-borne illnesses.
Clinical research is growing and increasingly important part
of my professional career. I previously served as the Lead Site Clinician for a
national clinical trial at Penn focused on improving care for people who inject
drugs through a combined ID and addiction medicine care model. Additionally, I
continue to pursue research focused on my areas of clinical interest, and
published my first first-author original research publication in 2025.
Throughout my career, I have been recognized for both
clinical care and education, including receiving the UPHS Patient Experience
Champion of the Year Award (2020), the Advanced Practice Fellowship Education
Award (2022), and the Barbara A. Todd Advanced Practice Leadership Award
(2025). I have also had the honor to serve as a keynote speaker for PA program
graduates and remain committed to mentoring and supporting the next generation
of healthcare professionals.
