John Dutton, MD

Dr. John Dutton is an accomplished general surgeon specializing in robotic gastrointestinal surgery. He earned his Doctor of Medicine degree from Rutgers Robert Wood Johnson Medical School, graduating with distinction in Medical Innovation and Entrepreneurship, and holds a Bachelor of Arts in Biological Foundations of Behavior from Franklin & Marshall College. He completed his General Surgery Residency at Rutgers Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital, developing advanced proficiency in both traditional and minimally invasive techniques, including robotic-assisted procedures using the da Vinci Surgical System. His clinical focus centers on gastrointestinal surgery and complex abdominal wall hernia repair, with an emphasis on precision, innovation, and evidence-based care. 

Dr. Dutton is also deeply committed to global health and surgical access, having completed a Global Surgery Fellowship with Operation Smile to help expand safe surgical care in underserved regions worldwide. He has authored and presented numerous publications on innovative surgical techniques, systems-based improvement, and physician leadership. He is a member of the Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Medical Society, and has received multiple awards for excellence in teaching and leadership. He resides in the greater Princeton area with his wife and two daughters.
