About me

  • Assistant Professor of Surgery at the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania

Dr. Zhang’s clinical practice focuses on both benign and malignant breast surgery, with a specific clinical interest in locally advanced/inflammatory and estrogen receptor positive breast cancers.

A graduate of Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine, Dr. Zhang completed a residency in general surgery at Beth Israel Medical Center in Boston, and a fellowship in Breast Surgical Oncology at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center (MSKCC) in New York.

In addition to her practice, Dr. Zhang conducts research centered around understanding the role of tumor-associated macrophages and dendritic cells in breast cancer and how to target these cells to improve breast cancer therapies. Dr. Zhang’s research is a collaboration with the laboratory of Robert Vonderheide, MD, DPhil, Director of the Abramson Cancer Center.
