About me

I am a rheumatologist with clinical expertise is in spondyloarthritis, a group of diseases including psoriatic arthritis, axial spondyloarthritis (also known as ankylosing spondylitis), reactive arthritis, and others. My specific focus is axial spondyloarthritis and IBD-associated arthritis. My research has focused on the use of patient-reported outcomes to improve understanding of the patient experience of rheumatologic disease. I also serve as Penn Rheumatology’s Vice Chief of Clinical Affairs, a role in which I hope to improve patient access to rheumatologic care and to improve delivery of this care in a fragmented health system. I have a passion for advocacy, and have been active in advocacy efforts at the federal level. I spend my free time (such as it is) gardening, birding, hiking, and trying my best to keep up with 3 young children.

My education and training

  • Medical School: Pennsylvania State University College of Medicine
  • Residency: Regions Hospital
  • Residency: University of Minnesota
  • Fellowship: Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine
