About me

Dr. Anupama Shahane, MD, MPH, is an Associate Professor of Clinical Medicine in the Division of Rheumatology at the University of Pennsylvania’s Perelman School of Medicine. She joined Penn Medicine after completing her rheumatology fellowship at the Cleveland Clinic. Her clinical interests are in inflammatory arthritis, with specific focus on rheumatoid arthritis, patients receiving immunotherapy, and patients with systemic lupus erythematosus. Her research interest focuses on the screening and treatment of osteoporosis, and she serves as the Director of the Penn Osteoporosis Program. She is passionate about education and serves as the Associate Program Director of the Rheumatology Fellowship where she runs the mentorship program. She has served in several roles locally and nationally including the American College of Rheumatology, Philadelphia Rheumatology Society and Pennsylvania Rheumatology Society. Out of the hospital, she enjoys exploring the many outdoor adventures that the Philadelphia region has to offer with her husband and three boys.
