Penn Medicine is aware of a nationwide scam involving emails and text messages that advertise a free “MyChart Medicare Kit” or “Senior Health Package” that appear to be coming from MyChart.
We are sharing this information to keep you and your personal information safe. We encourage you to share it with others to help raise awareness.
Epic, the company that owns MyChart, has received reports from multiple healthcare organizations of email phishing attempts using the MyChart name and logos. There is no evidence these attempts are related to or using any actual MyChart systems.

What to do if you get a suspicious message
Scammers often use familiar names, logos, and language to make scam messages appear trustworthy. Fraudulent MyChart emails may ask you to click a button or a link to provide your personal information.
Check the sender. Penn Medicine MyChart messages come from official email addresses and shortened phone numbers called short codes. They are:
- MyChart by myPennMedicine email: myPennMedicineInfo@uphs.upenn.edu
- MyChart by myPennMedicine text short code: 38064
- MyLGHealth email: MyLGHealth_NOREPLY@lghealth.org
- MyLGHealth text short code: 84629
Do not click anything or send the message to others. Avoid clicking links or buttons, including an "unsubscribe" link. Do not forward the message to others.
Mark the email or text as spam or junk.
Reset your MyChart password as soon as possible, if you clicked on a link or shared information:
How to protect yourself from MyChart scams
Follow these tips to help keep you and your personal information safe.
Protect your password and verification codes. Penn Medicine will never ask you to provide your MyChart password or verification codes by phone, text or email. Only enter them through the official MyChart by myPennMedicine or MyLGHealth websites.
Be cautious of free offers. MyChart does not offer giveaways and will never send messages promising free gifts or prizes in exchange for sharing your health information.
Never follow instructions from an unexpected message. MyChart will not ask you to "fix" or "unlock" your account.
If something looks off, contact us. If you aren’t sure if a message is real, call the MyChart by myPennMedicine or MyLGHealth helpdesk or your doctor's office. MyChart support is available 24/7.
