A group of race volunteers and runners poses on a rainy day at the base of a statue.Soggy skies were no match for the spirit of the Penn Medicine volunteers and racers who gathered in Penn Park on October 2nd for the 11th Annual 5K for the IOA and Memory Mile event, which benefits Penn’s Institute on Aging (IOA) and its research into Alzheimer’s disease and other aging-related conditions. This year’s race registered 274 runners and walkers and 67 volunteers, despite the preponderance of puddles. It was held in tribute to the late John Q. Trojanowksi, MD, PhD, former director of the IOA, and to date has raised more than $50,000.
