Attracting top talent and developing our employees is critical to our growth and shared success. Penn Medicine Academy (PMA) is committed to supporting leaders to build even stronger teams and helping employees and faculty to realize their potential. This month we are launching two new tools: the Interview Guide Builder and Development Planning Tool. These new tools will transform how managers and those they manage approach development.

Build a Better Interview to Bring in the Best

When it comes to recruiting top talent, an excellent hire always starts with successful interviewing. Anchored by the Penn Medicine Behavioral Competencies, hiring managers can now use the new interactive Interview Guide Builder. They can develop customized interview guides that incorporate behavioral-based questions and identify individuals who can perform successfully in the position. Past behaviors predict future success: if we understand how candidates performed in previous jobs, what they learned and how they applied those learnings, we can better understand if candidates have what it takes to be successful at Penn Medicine.

A Tool to Help Develop All Employees

Once top talent has been secured and onboarded using PMA’s onboarding templates, helping them to invest in their careers is a priority. Providing development opportunities has a positive impact on the engagement and capabilities of the employee, department/unit and the broader organization. The new Development Planning Tool enables everyone at Penn Medicine to chart a course to excel personally and professionally. Regardless of the specific goals and aspirations of our employees, this tool will help build a plan to develop the specific competencies needed to grow their careers at Penn Medicine.

“We know that the processes of interviewing and creating development plans present their own unique challenges and take work,” said Cindy Morgan, VP, Learning and Organizational Development. “Our goal in creating these tools was to help employees and managers through the process more effectively and efficiently. We are committed to helping our employees grow and reach their potential.”
