Craig Named CNO at Pennsylvania Hospital

Elizabeth J. “Betty” Craig, DNP, has become chief nursing officer at Pennsylvania Hospital, bringing a wealth of experience to PAH. Previously, she served as chief nurse executive at Temple University Hospital, as well as SVP of Patient Services. While there, she initiated and chaired the Patient Experience Committee, which led to significant increases in patient satisfaction scores. Under her leadership, Temple achieved Magnet designation in January with three exemplars for clinical quality outcomes and nursing outreach in the community.

Craig is not new to Penn Medicine. She previously spent eight years at HUP, starting as a clinical instructor and eventually becoming a nurse manager.

Morris New Biostatistics Director

Jeffrey S. Morris, PhD, is the new director of Biostatistics, in the Department of Biostatistics, Epidemiology and Informatics. He was previously deputy chair of Biostatistics at the University of Texas.

Morris is an international leader in making meaningful connections between patient outcomes and complex biomedical big data, one of the greatest challenges in medicine today. His work has produced a number of novel statistical modeling tools that are broadly applicable to numerous settings, and has propelled the creation of novel precision-medicine strategies.

Morris is a Fellow of the Institute for Mathematical Statistics (IMS) and of the American Statistical Association, and has been recognized with various national honors. He also is currently the editor of Biology, Medicine and Genomics for the IMS journal The Annals of Applied Statistics.
