Presby staff really go the extra mile when it comes to helping their patients feel comfortable. Steve Grotkowski, BSN, Wright 5 Unit Council Chair, and Meg Spicer, BSN, a Wright 5 nurse, recently reached out to the Crocs shoe company in hopes of securing a donation of foam clogs to be used as shower shoes for patients on their unit. Wright 5 is an inpatient psychiatric dual-diagnosis unit for patients who are experiencing a mental health crisis while often simultaneously attempting to navigate chronic homelessness, substance use, job loss, or grief. Many of these patients arrive without any personal belongings and are not prepared for long inpatient stays. Crocs answered the nurses’ email the following day and arranged for a shipment of 50 pairs of white clogs to the unit. The Wright 5 patients and staff are grateful for the donation. “I'm still so shocked and thankful that Crocs helped us out like that,” Spicer said.
