Congratulations to physicians, employees, and volunteers at Princeton Medical Center (PMC), which ranked in the top 1 percent of New Jersey hospitals for overall inpatient satisfaction last year.
The ranking is based on surveys evaluated by Press Ganey, a research firm that measures patient experience for hospitals nationwide, for patients who were discharged in 2020.
“Results like this show the caliber of our people throughout Penn Medicine Princeton Health,” said CEO James Demetriades. “Patients and their loved ones are not only looking for the latest cutting-edge technology. They want high quality with a personal touch. They want to know we care.”
Also in 2020, PMC rated highly in federal patient experience surveys called HCAHPS, or Hospital Consumer Assessment of Healthcare Providers and Systems.
In one key measure — the percentage of patients who would definitely recommend the hospital to friends and family — PMC ranked in the top 5 percent of New Jersey hospitals. PMC scored even higher, the top 4 percent of New Jersey hospitals, for the percentage of patients who rated PMC as a 9 or 10 of a possible 10 points.
PMC ranked in the top 1 percent of New Jersey hospitals in two HCAHPS categories:
- Hospital Environment, which measures patient perception of cleanliness and noise levels.
- Care Transitions, which accounts for how well patients felt their preferences were considered in care decisions, understood their role in managing their own health, and knew the purpose of medications they were supposed to take.
PMC finished in the top 4 percent of New Jersey hospitals in two HCAHPS categories that reflect the quality of communications with nurses and doctors.
