Our community health programs
We offer multiple programs designed for people affected by cancer, including patients, survivors, and caregivers. Services include:
- Cancer screenings: We provide free annual prostate and skin cancer screenings to our community.
- Cancer support groups: We facilitate monthly support groups for people affected by breast cancer, head and neck cancer, and for caregivers.
- Mindful movement: This gentle, low-impact class is designed for patients undergoing or completing cancer treatment. It combines exercise with yogic breathing, guided imagery, and meditation to reduce stress and support overall wellness.
- Nutrition tips for breast cancer: This virtual group helps breast cancer patients and survivors understand how diet and lifestyle impact cancer prevention and recovery.
- Psychosocial Oncology Clinic: This onsite service cares for the emotional, psychological, and social needs of people with cancer and their loved ones.
- Reiki sessions: Reiki can help people with cancer experience more relaxation and well-being.
Pregnancy, birth, and early parenthood can be exciting—and overwhelming. We support you with guidance, education, and connection so you feel informed, prepared, and confident as you welcome your baby. Our services include:
- Baby Fair: Our annual Baby Fair is a community-focused event to support families who are planning a pregnancy, expecting, or have recently welcomed a child. Through our partnership with local non-profits and community organizations, families can access maternity tours, infant CPR classes, car seat safety checks, and more.
- Car seat safety checks: Up to 90 percent of car seats aren’t installed correctly. Our certified child passenger safety technicians offer free car seat safety checks and inspections.
- Childbirth and breastfeeding classes: We offer classes to prepare for labor and birth, breastfeeding basics, and Daddy Boot Camp to help partners prepare.
- Discharge calls: After birth, our team follows up with you to answer your questions, support your feeding goals, and connect you with programs and resources as needed.
- Support groups: We offer a free monthly pregnancy support group to ask questions, meet other expectant parents, and explore childbirth education options. After birth, you have access to a variety of parenting, postpartum, and breastfeeding support groups.
- Warm line: The warm line supports breastfeeding mothers before and after birth. Board-certified lactation consultants offer guidance, answer questions, and provide resources to help you succeed with breastfeeding.
We provide CPR and first aid training to help you respond confidently to emergencies, whether at home, at work, or in the community. Resources for the general community include:
- Family and friends CPR: Learn to perform CPR and help an adult, child, or infant who is choking. We offer these classes year-round, with an expanded schedule of free classes during Free CPR Month.
- Pet first aid and CPR: Learn to recognize and respond to emergencies in dogs and cats, including lifesaving techniques and pre-vet care.
- Mental health first aid: Identify signs of mental health concerns, respond to crises, and connect individuals to appropriate support services.
- Stop the Bleed: This national program teaches participants to manage bleeding emergencies until professional help arrives.
We also provide trainings for health professionals, including:
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification and renewal: The course covers adult and pediatric CPR, choking response, and AED use.
- Heartsaver® First Aid CPR AED training: This course teaches CPR, AED use, choking relief, and first aid for illness and injury. It’s designed for those with workplace responsibilities to respond to emergencies.
We collect items year-round to support our neighbors in need. Donations may include non-perishable food, new clothing, and winter coats, all of which can be dropped off at Princeton Medical Center or one of our satellite locations. Our supporting organizations include several local partners, including the Plainsboro Food Pantry, Jewish Family Services, and the South Brunswick Food Pantry.
We help residents with questions about health insurance coverage through Get Covered NJ, New Jersey’s official state-run marketplace. Our team helps you:
- Make decisions during the annual open enrollment period from November 1 to January 31
- Navigate Medicaid and marketplace options
- Understand the application process
Rape aggression defense (RAD®) programs empower individuals with personal safety skills, situational awareness, and confidence. We provide multiple classes tailored to women, men, seniors, and children.
From cooking classes to wellness activities and educational sessions, we give young people practical tools they can use at home, at school, and in their communities. Specific offerings include:
- Educational classes: We empower children and adolescents to build confidence, independence, and healthy habits in a supportive, age-appropriate environment. Classes focus on safety, personal development, physical activity, and life skills.
- Kids Marathon: Our annual Kids Marathon encourages children in Pre-K through 8th grade to stay active and build healthy habits. Participants walk, run, or roll 25 miles over several weeks. The program concludes with a 1.2-mile Fun Run that includes music, games, and activities.
We support disease prevention and chronic disease management across the lifespan. Our services include:
- Community classes: We provide practical tools to help people take charge of their health through classes focused on nutrition, physical activity, and self-care.
- Health fairs and screenings: We partner with local organizations to offer health fairs and free screenings, including blood pressure checks, memory screenings, pulse and oxygen level evaluations, and some cancer screenings. Many of our events feature educational resources, interactive exhibits, family-friendly activities, and wellness giveaways.
- Mental wellness: Many of our courses and experiences support stress management, emotional well-being, and resilience. Offerings include mindfulness-based programs, gentle and chair yoga, natural walks, and our annual self-care retreat, Renew and Reset.
- Support groups: Support groups provide a safe space to share, learn, and find community with others who have had similar experiences. We offer support groups focused on bereavement, caregiving, diabetes management, perinatal loss, bariatric surgery, and stroke.
Many of our programs focus on supporting healthy aging, independence, and quality of life. We offer:
- AARP Smart Driver™: This program helps adults refresh their driving knowledge, build confidence, and practice defensive driving skills. The course is open to all adults and may offer benefits for insurance or driving records.
- CarFit: Offered in partnership with AAA and AARP, CarFit helps older adults adjust their vehicles for comfort, safety, and confidence. Trained Princeton Health technicians review seating, mirrors, and controls while providing one-on-one tips and resources for ongoing safe driving.
- Health education: We provide services to educate seniors on bone health and osteoporosis, fall prevention, memory and cognitive health, vision and mobility changes, advance care planning, and navigating other health concerns that can arise as you age.
- Virtual dementia tour: This 30-minute interactive experience helps participants better understand the physical and cognitive challenges of living with dementia. Certified facilitators guide participants through activities that help caregivers, family members, and community members gain practical understanding and foster empathy for those with memory impairments.
Our EMT programs are designed for both aspiring and current EMTs. We offer an initial Basic EMT course for new EMTs, as well as refresher classes. Additionally, we provide elective continuing education courses focused on:
- Advance directives and physician orders for life-sustaining treatment (POLST)
- Bloodborne pathogens
- Coaching for emergency vehicle operators (CEVO 5)

- Mental health first aid for firefighters and emergency medical services (EMS) providers

We collaborate with Mercer County Community College and the Mercer County Fire Academy to oversee the EMT Training Center for Mercer County. We also contribute to regional and national EMS conferences by providing educational sessions and expert speakers.
