Thank you for your interest in supporting Penn Medicine. At this time all of our regular volunteer programs have been suspended, but please consider some of our other Coronavirus opportunities below.

Volunteers at the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania help to provide services to patients and caregivers from all over the world in one of the nation's leading academic medical centers. Our volunteers play an important role in patient satisfaction and offer an added dimension of personal service to our patients and caregivers. We appreciate and value each and every volunteer's generous gift of time and talent.

Coronavirus Volunteers

  • Coronavirus Volunteer Form
    Offer your services to the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania in any capacity. As we identify needs from the community, we will contact the appropriate persons from this list.
  • HUP Meal Donation Form
    Donate food or meals to hospital staff. We will be in contact to discuss safety requirement and coordinate the donation.
  • Share the Love Form
    Share a message or image of gratitude or support with hospital staff.
  • Hall of Heroes
    Cards with messages supporting staff are also being accepted to create a 'Hall of Heroes' at the employee entrance to show staff support. Cards can be mailed to:

    Traditional Volunteer Programs

    The Traditional Volunteer Program at the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania welcomes community members who are 18 years of age and older the opportunity to help improve the hospital experience for patients, their families, caregivers and the hospital staff.

    College Volunteer Program

    The College Volunteer Program at the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania provides an opportunity to those on a career path to the medical field an opportunity to gain valuable hospital experience and exposure to medicine at a premiere institution. Sessions run 14 weeks. College Volunteers are expected to attend a weekly four-hour shift at the schedule of their choosing for 12 of the 14 weeks of a session, plus a monthly infection control audit session of two hours.

    Summer Teen Volunteer Program

    The Teen Volunteer Program at the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania provides high school students who are at least 14 years old with career exposure to a variety of healthcare professions.
